Locos and rollingstockLoco's and rollingstock. A quicky of the crane I built for the railroad. This is in working position. Since it's built of scrap, I call it "Scrappy"
This is folded for running.
Had to do something to save my tired ole back. Not a model of any crane, or to any scale.
Here's the little bobber caboose I bought from Scott Lindsey.
And the gondola that has hauled what seems like about a million pounds of
fill dirt and ballast.
Just, more or less, finished building a switch engine. The trucks and frame are from the start of the Clariet. I never could get it to reliably make my short radius curves, so will have to start the Clariet again with a tighter wheel spacing. I cut the frames of the trucks off, halfway between the outermost two axles, and moved the end plates back, and welded them on. It makes all my curves now without any problem. The drive system seems to work quite well, so it has formed the base for a switcher. I bolted on a 6.5 hp. gas engine, used an old lawnmower gearbox that a fellow gave me, got a centrifical clutch, some sprockets and chain, a little sheet metal work, and I got myself a new switcher.
I still have a little sheetmetal work to do. Put the roof of the cab on, and add a front coupler. Make some louvered doors for the hood. I really like being able to ride "in" the loco, instead of behing it. |
